SCG CELEBRATES FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF RECOGNITION AT VIETNAM’S GOLDEN DRAGON AWARDS – The latest recognition reflects SCG’s commitment to ESG and sustainable growth in Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City, May 14, 2026 – SCG has been honored as one of the Top 10 Outstanding FIEs – Leading ESG Business at the 25th Golden Dragon Awards. This marks the fifth consecutive year SCG has received this recognition. The recognition reflects SCG’s long-term commitment to supporting Vietnam’s transition toward a higher-value, greener, and more resilient industrial economy.

Initiated by the Vietnam Economic Times, the 25th Golden Dragon Awards were held as part of the Vietnam Connect Forum 2026. Under the theme “Building integrated Partnerships between Foreign-invested and Domestic Economic Sectors for Breakthrough Growth in the New Era”, the awards recognize businesses contributing significantly to Vietnam’s sustainable growth.

At the ceremony, Mr. Kulachet Dharachandra, Country Director of SCG, Vietnam, stated: Vietnam has remained a strategic investment destination for SCG for over three decades. This award motivates us to continue aligning with the Government’s direction for high-quality FDI. Beyond investment scale, SCG focuses on technology transfer, green governance, and collaboration with local partners to enhance industrial capacity, striving together towards the Net Zero goal.

Key Milestones in SCG’s Development Journey in Vietnam:

  1. Economic Contribution & Industrial Development

– Budget Contribution: In 2025, SCG contributed over 31.5 million USD (approx. 788.8 billion VND) in tax payments in Vietnam, reflecting its long-term commitment to supporting the country’s economic growth.

– Strategic Investment: SCG is investing 500 million USD to upgrade Long Son Petrochemicals (LSPE) through Ethane feedstock integration, enhancing operational flexibility, strengthening long-term competitiveness, and supporting lower-carbon manufacturing.

– Local Supplier Integration: Across SCG businesses in Vietnam, local suppliers account for a significant share of procurement networks and spending. In several operations, SCG VN engages with roughly 5,000 tier-1 local suppliers/vendors, representing 70-80% of the total vendors, reflecting SCG’s commitment to strengthening Vietnam’s industrial ecosystem and supporting domestic participation in regional and global value chains.

  1. People & Talent Development

– Community Empowerment: Long-standing programs include the “SCG Sharing the Dream” scholarship (since 2007) and the “Learn to Earn” career support project, supporting education and workforce readiness for Vietnamese youth.

– Talent Development: Over 16,000 employees have been upskilled through the SCG Academy and Communities of Practice (CoP), strengthening technical capability, leadership development, and future workforce readiness.

  1. Green Growth & Emission Reduction

– Petrochemicals: SCG continues advancing lower-carbon operations through investments in cleaner technologies, energy efficiency, and operational improvement initiatives across its petrochemical businesses.

– Building Materials: Song Gianh Cement aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 23% by 2030 through energy efficiency improvement and alternative fuel utilization.

– Eco-friendly Portfolio: The SCG Green Choice portfolio, including low-carbon cement and ThinEco tiles, helps reduce approximately 115,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

  1. Digitalization & Operational Excellence

– Strategic Partnership: SCG signed an MoU with FPT to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen smart management systems across operations in Vietnam.

– AI & Smart Manufacturing: SCG businesses are increasingly adopting AI, automation, robotics, and IoT technologies to improve operational efficiency, product quality, and manufacturing agility.

– Operational Innovation: Examples include AI applications at SCGP to improve production efficiency, Auto Truck systems at Song Gianh Cement, and robotic and IoT deployment at Binh Minh Plastics and PRIME Group for real-time production monitoring.

The recognition at the 2026 Golden Dragon Awards reaffirms SCG’s position as a leading FDI enterprise in ESG. SCG also continues working closely with policymakers, industry associations, suppliers, and local partners to strengthen Vietnam’s industrial competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and innovation ecosystem, supporting Vietnam’s ambition to become a high-value and sustainable manufacturing hub in the region.
